What is hippocamp?
a netlabel that releases free music
What are your contact details?
queries and mp3 demos can be sent to hippocamp dot net at gmail dot com but when sending mp3 files please bear in mind the
file size limit for attachments limit that gmail has. if you require a postal address then please email for details. websites for individual artists can be looked up in the directory for those that have them. alternatively you can
get in touch via the forum.
How is the music released?
if we like the music we release it in standard mp3 format with no drm.
all the music is subject to a creative commons licence which means that although
it is released for free and you are free to copy it the artist still
retains certain rights.
What happens if I get label interest?
artists are completely free to release
their music elsewhere, hippocamp is only here as a community and to
help artists get a little more exposure, if an artist needs to have
their tracks removed from the site at any time, that's not a problem.
one thing we do ask is that you ask us politely and personally:
- we do NOT want to hear from your new manager.
- we do NOT want legal threats from your label.
- if you release here you release the material under the CREATIVE COMMONS.
- if you don't want people to share LEGALLY material downloaded from this site then release elsewhere.
- if you think you may make millions from your material DO NOT release it on a netlabel that releases music under the CC LICENCE.
- even though we remove releases the copies still 'out there' are still legal and people can still LEGALLY share them.
- if you don't understand this hippocamp is not for you.
When did hippocamp begin?
